Thrash Zone Has 2 Essentials, Beer And Meatballs

You know what makes people happy? Beer. It’s a very simple solution for happiness, but unfortunately it’s not always easy to find really good beer in Japan.

Enter Thrash Zone, an amazing bar that offers great beer, tasty mini meatballs, and horrendous grunge rock music right in Kannai, Yokohama.

Beer Beer and Beer!

Beers vary in price, but you can expect 7 to 10 bucks a pint.

This place isn’t fancy by any means, but it gets straight to the point with it’s menu on a giant black board that cant fit into a whole picture. Thrash Zone has a lot of its own in-house beers, but it also rotates out some different ones from time to time.

However, I should mention that if you aren’t a big fan of IPA’s, this place may not be your cup of tea. Myself being a huge fan, have now made it 5 beers down the list. Today I went with the Lagunitas IPA and my co-worker Mike went with the World Downfall Stout.

Beer and meatballs are a gift from God

The IPA was quite good overall. It wasn’t as bitter as I tend to like them, but the light fruity taste seemed right for this hot summer weather. I think non-IPA drinkers might be able to enjoy this one.

The stout was quite refreshing, although it was a stout, so it had some weight to it. Luckily, we hadn’t had much to eat before hand so having a heavier beer as an appetizer wasn’t so bad. That and the bartender here always gives you an excellent pour with virtually no head. Yes, that’s right. A good pour has LIMITED TO NO head…Japan.

Tiny Meatballs that are adorable and delicious.

After cooking our meatballs for about 10 minutes, they were finally ready to be devoured. These little puppies come in sizes of 4, 8, and 12. We went with 8 which was a pretty reasonable size for 6 bucks.

The light cheese and garnishing of oregano on top gave the meatballs a really nice flavor. For whatever reason though, I wasn’t too keen on the smell. But at the end of the day, as long as it tastes good, can’t complain. They also had a meatball sub which looked quite tempting. I’ll have to try it next time.

Thrash Zone is fully equipped with a decent range of beers and delicious meatballs. At about 7 bucks a pint, this place definitely offers one of the more reasonable deals for good quality craft beer, and is poured perfectly to the brim. Make sure to head over to Kannai in Yokohama and give this place a try!
